New Zealand Consumer Law (ACL) — Your Rights
Under the ACL, consumers are entitled to guarantees for goods and services that are provided by businesses in New Zealand. For car hire this commonly includes that vehicles are of acceptable quality, fit for purpose and match the description at booking.
- Refund, repair or replacement when a major problem occurs.
- Access to remedies for defective services or misleading conduct.
- Protection from unfair contract terms for standard form consumer contracts.
We assess vehicle condition before hire, disclose material fees, and provide clear procedures for reporting faults within 48 hours of pick-up.
For ACL issues you can contact the ACCC (www.accc.gov.au) or your state fair trading agency.
Rental Agreement & Minimum Requirements
By hiring a vehicle from Entrycurrent you agree to our Rental Agreement which includes:
- Driver age and licence requirements (minimum 21 years unless otherwise stated).
- Valid full driver licence held for the required period.
- Fuel, tolls, fines and cleaning responsibilities.
- Return conditions and late/one-way fees.
Full Rental Agreement is incorporated into the booking confirmation. For standard term queries contact our support team.
Pricing, Fees & Cancellations
We publish base rates online and disclose common fees at booking. Additional charges may apply for extras, out-of-hours returns, one-way hires and damage fees.
Liability, Damage and Accident Procedures
Drivers are responsible for the vehicle during the hire period. Report accidents and damage immediately to our emergency contact and local authorities where applicable.
Photograph damage, exchange details, and call our support line. We will advise next steps and any hold on payment methods for excess.
We cooperate with insurers and regulators. For disputes about liability you may seek independent advice or contact ACCC/state fair trading offices.
Personal Data, Privacy & Records
We collect personal information to provide bookings and comply with legal obligations. Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use it and retention periods.
For access, correction or requests under New Zealand privacy laws contact us or see Privacy.
